The space frame has become a retro-futuristic means of enclosing space. Space frames are both strong, light, and flexible in form. Other notable figures related to spatial structure in architecture and design include Buckminster Fuller and Konrad Wachsmann.
This project benefited from the utilization of augmented reality through the use of fologram and rhino/grasshopper. The project consists of a standard system of hickory wood members and metal connectors assembled through the aid of a hololens headset and the augmented reality overlay.
Some of the benefits of using augmented reality in the conception and fabrication of the project included being able to design the project for the space and visualize how the project reacts in the space. In fabrication, the process of marking out and assembling the individual pieces of the project was aided by having the constant visualization of the member length and location highlighted when selected.
This project was special as it allowed me to merge my passions once again through design and technology integration from another perspective, and being one of only two underclassmen selected to participate.
